Job Title: White Goods/ Appliance Engineer
Location: Central Bristol
Earnings: £30,000 p.a.
Fantastic working hours: 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday only. No evenings, weekends, or Bank Holidays!
We are looking for a fully qualified White Goods / Domestic Appliance Engineer to join our small and friendly Bristol-based charity & social enterprise.
You will carry out refurbishment processes on domestic appliances and supervise the SOFA Project electrical appliance workshop, ensuring all items passing through are logged, inspected, tested, repaired, safe, and fully working to meet SOFA Project, Environment Agency & Audited standards and all legal H&S requirements.
Occasionally you will be required to visit customer properties to carry out minor repairs / swapping out faulty appliances and help with other tasks in our Workshop as required. You will also work with our commercial partner on one day per week selecting suitable usable appliances for repair at their site in Avonmouth.
Essential Requirements:
Knowledge of domestic appliance repairs and installation
Knowledge of electrical components, and safe working practices
Able to accurately record data.
A commitment to our charitable aims and objectives
Able to lift and manoeuvre heavy appliances and furniture
A clean driving licence (for car or light van) with at least 3 years of experience.
Able to deal with a range of people and situations with tact & diplomacy
Able to work as part of a team and on own initiative
Desired Requirements:
Experience in any other trade (with qualifications) including appliance repair, plumbing, heating, drainage, carpentry, electrics or roofing
Experience in a customer-facing role
C&G (or equivalent) in Portable Appliance Testing (PAT)
Experience in a workshop environment
Experience of supervising staff
Experienced in managing resources
Able to drive a forklift truck (i.e. with a licence)
Knowledge of risk assessment & Health & Safety procedures
